2015大聯盟選秀第1天，響尾蛇隊在首輪第1順位選上范登堡大學明星游擊手史旺森（Dansby Swanson）當狀元，接著太空人與洛磯隊也在榜眼、探花順位上挑中游擊手，出現大聯盟選秀史51年來首次游擊手包辦前3甲的紀錄。
史上首度由游擊手包辦狀元、榜眼、探花，這顯示當今游擊手很搶手。這是響尾蛇10年來首度擁有首輪第1順位選秀權，而沒有意外，該隊選擇了上季大學世界大賽最有價值球員、帶領范登堡大學奪下去年全國冠軍的史旺森。
在選秀展開前一刻，史旺森才剛敲出關鍵全壘打，帶領校隊再度打進今年的大學世界大賽。響尾蛇球探部長雷尼爾：「好的游擊手很難找，而史旺森很傑出，他具有贏球的企圖心與特質，讓你覺得未來可以倚靠。」
史旺森為史上第2位大學游擊手選秀狀元，第1位早在1974年，當年教士選中阿莫（Bill Almon）。綜觀大聯盟51年選秀史，達10名高中游擊手選秀狀元，包括響尾蛇在2005年挑中的賈斯丁阿普頓（本季效力教士隊）。
太空人選擇路易斯安那州大游擊手布瑞格曼（Alex Bregman），洛磯挑了來自佛羅里達的高中游擊手羅傑斯（Brendan Rodgers）。
擁有第10順位的費城人、第19順位的海盜、第20順位的運動家與第30順位的洋基，也都選擇游擊手，使得第1輪總共有7名游擊手凍蒜。
而2012年、上一位高中游擊手選秀狀元柯瑞拉（Carlos Correa，太空人），昨日大聯盟初登場4打數1安打，4局上敲出大聯盟生涯第1支安打，攻下太空人全場唯一1分，終場太空人1比3敗給白襪。
